How To Deal With Stress-The Foundation

Any structure needs a foundation. You need a personal foundation if you ever hope to learn how to deal with stress in your daily life.

how to deal with stress-the foundationMy own personal experiences have led me to the conclusion that there is a higher power.

This is a basic premise from which everything else springs.  You can call it God, the universe, Allah, or whatever you want, but the principles are the same.

This underlying faith enables you to trust that there is a reason for things that happen and that you have a destiny to be happy and fulfilled. Learning how to deal with stress helps you put this into practice in a very personal manner.

How to deal with family stress

From a Christian viewpoint this can be summarized in the saying that "all things work together for good." Others might express the same idea as "everything happens for a reason."

In any case, the faith that there is a higher power, who is, in some unexplainable way, allowing people and circumstances to come my way, is essential to the secrets of how to deal with stress that I have learned.

A newborn baby might think it is the center of the universe, and sometimes as adults we do the same. Actually, there is no center of the universe!

Nevertheless, when we are able to see ourselves as a part of everything, the significance of what we say and do, as well as what is said and done to us, takes on an entirely different meaning.

Save your marriage

There is a reason for what happens. Usually it makes little difference what the external reason is, the real importance for how to deal with stress lies in how I personally react to what happens.

In other words, how can I learn from what just happened? What is this higher power trying to teach me? How did my reaction affect my own stress level? How did my reaction affect other people?

Most of the time, the lesson gets lost in the words, or the general noise of the event. If we are not awake it is easy to lose sight of the bigger picture.

We seem to have a well-developed ability to explain things away, to deflect the light from shining on ourselves. It is always better to take an honest look inside and see the truth, as much as we can.

Effective parenting

This takes time, quiet introspection and honesty. You don't need to disappear for hours in order to do this, in fact, once you are practiced, it is more like breathing than anything.

It is, however, a very good idea to occasionally spend a day or two all alone in a quiet place. You have to slow down, quiet your churning thoughts and just be still.

Being alone in nature for an afternoon or morning can do wonders in helping to learn how to deal with stress.
